You may know the agony of a beloved appliance going on the fritz. Some times it is a happy occasion to have an appliance break down. Woopie…time to go buy a new one! But what if cash is short? Can you afford to go in debt for a new appliance? We have recently discovered the value of being able to fix our appliances. For a fraction of the cost, the question is, ‘can I bear looking at this thing for another 5 years?’ For some thing like the water heater in the garage, the answer is easy, nobody sees it. For a fridge or stove or microwave…what will my pride be content with?

Our water heater kept switching off. What was the problem? Thankfully this wasn’t the first time. We have asked questions of our neighbors and the staff at the hardware store. This time, my husband knew just what to do. It cost us $18 this time and $10 in the past. So we are up to a grand total of $28 bucks. In comparison, to replace it would cost over a $100.

Right now my microwave sits in the garage. It was blowing up on me! I have read there are ways to fix it. Now with patience I am waiting for the right time and money to buy the needed parts. I am not wanting to spend $50 bucks on a new one when my old one is not very old and looks brand new.
